African Americans own less than 3% of all US radio stations, and make up only 5% of American radio engineers. There are several radio stations in Mississippi, but so few engineers that they must come from other states to service several stations at once. You can help change that!
Ruben Hughes founded WGNL-FM, the most influential radio station in the Mississippi Delta. The Ruben Hughes Memorial Scholarship aims to give back to African Americans attending an HBCU in Mississippi. Applicants must be Juniors or Senior majoring in Journalism or Mass Communications.
